Company Secretary
Commitment: Approximately two days per month, attendance at monthly meetings (most likely Zoom). Preparation for and attendance of the Society AGM.
Suitable Experience: Work or experience in an organisation where responsibility included legal matters, some knowledge of employment law and, if possible, experience of voluntary organisations.

Volunteer Coordinator
Would suit: Self-motivated people person
Outline of the post: Meet & greet new volunteers to establish areas of interest and to find a volunteering role which suits. To assist team leaders in finding volunteers for a specific project.
Essential skills: Basic IT, good communicator
Ecology Advisor
Would suit: Self motivated professional or keen amateur with an interest in the natural world
Outline of post: Responsible in keeping the Society up to date with ecology issues and liaising with Canal and River Trust Ecologists and organisations like Wildlife Trusts etc. It’s a job to develop in ways which appeal
Essential skills: Basic IT and record keeping
Operations Manager, Woolsthorpe Position Filled
Would suit: Self-motivated person who is well organised and enjoys rural life and has a ‘can do attitude’
Outline of post: Responsible for the organisation of routine maintenance on the canal, in charge of workboats and the coordination of volunteers to carry out the work
Essential skills: Management of volunteers, team building, planning workloads
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Lead Position Filled
Would suit: Self- motivated person who is organised, with an interest in helping young people meet their aspirations
Outline of the post: This is a new role within the Society. You will coordinate activities with support from team leaders
Essential Skills: Enjoy working with young people, record keeping, basic IT skills
Events Team Lead
Would suit: Self-motivated person with organisational skills
Outline of the post: To head up our Events Team in putting on events, mainly at our canal depot, on public open days
Essential Skills: You will be a people person with basic IT skills and enjoy making things happen
Social Secretary
Would suit: Self motivated person with organisational skills
Outline of the post: To organise a small number of social events for our volunteers throughout the year. This might range from inviting a speaker to deliver a presentation to organising team dinners and our annual Christmas Dinner
Essential skills: You will be a people person with Basic IT
Further roles required in the continued expansion of our work in returning the canal to navigation:
Purchasing Assistant
To help control the flow of materials required for our new developments
Surveyor
To establish the topography of worksites. To develop plans for new construction
Recycling Assistant
To head up a project to review silt removal from the canal
To offer innovative ideas for recovery and sale of recovered material
This is a continuous requirement on the canal to maintain navigation
Many of the above roles are capable of being undertaken from home, living near the waterway is not necessarily a requirement. An interest in and an understanding of waterways would help, but is not essential.
