Lock 15 Restoration Site – Guided Tours**

Find us at:

The Carpenter’s Shop Canal Depot, Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, Nr. the Dirty Duck pub NG32 1NY

Parking by kind permission of Jean-Francois and Lynne, Licensees of the Dirty Duck

By visiting us – you will be supporting the ongoing maintenance and restoration of the canal.

Please note:

These are ‘turn up & ride’ events.  Our trip boat ‘The Three Shires’ seats 10 people.  If we cannot accommodate you on your chosen trip – we will endeavor to seat you on a later trip.  If we’re busy – sometimes this may not be possible.  Please consider this if travelling some distance.

The duration of each trip is 30 mins.

The last trip departs 4pm

All timings are approximate – it’s the nature of boating!

Dogs are not permitted on the boat, but are welcome on a lead in the canal depot.

To reach the boat moorings, entails a walk of approx 500 yds along a surfaced towpath.  Passengers need to be able to cope with stepping on and off the boat.  There are no facilities for the disabled on board.

The canal depot is accessible to wheelchair users, but toilet facilities are of standard dimensions, with a single grab rail. We do hope to improve these facilities for next year.

** Lock 15 is subject to a Heritage Lottery Fund award.  It is nearing the end of a major rebuild which will be finished this year.  Following this, we move on to rebuild Lock 14.

Volunteers will be on hand to show you around the site and to explain the work involved in restoring this important part of our heritage.

Lock 15 is just over 1/2 mile from the Canal Depot at Woolsthorpe. Walk along the grass towpath, or visit by car, in which case, it will be a walk of approx 100 yds. Nearest Postcode: NG32 2HE
